INDIVIDUAL ACHIEVEMENTS
Anne Smith (Head Coach of England Women’s Under 19 World Championship squad) was presented with the ‘Heart of Lacrosse’ award at the 2007 international event.
Wendy Reynolds (International Umpires at the 2007 Under 19 World Championships) was awarded with the ‘Spirit of Lacrosse’ award for her involvement with umpiring
Georgie Hurt (Co-Captain of England Women’s Under 19 World Championship squad) was presented with the ‘Spirit of Lacrosse‘ award at the international event.
Charlie Finnigan, Cat Gaunt, Emily Gray, Georgie Hurt, Laura Merrifield, Kate Newall, Hannah Nugent, Katy Bennett, Camilla Paget, Hannah Barnsley, Keely Watt, Alice Briggs, Emma Butcher, Rusty Cashman, Felicity Hermsen, Alice Kay, Lucy Lynch, Lizzy McCosh, and Jenny Waterfield are all part of the Final 33 Senior England Lacrosse group competing for a place on the 2009 World Cup squad. They are all current or past Centex players and/or current Centex coaches.
Natasha Bott, Sophie Brett , Alice Bruynseels, Camilla Hayes, Charlotte Houston, Kirsten Lafferty, Alana Livesey, Philippa May, Anna Murch, Alex Palfrey, Sasha Sassoon, Ruby Smith, Sophie Sweerts, Leah Templeman, and Georgia Wade (Captain) represented a Senior England Squad in the European Championships in Finland in August 2008. The representative England side were runners up in this senior tournament.
Except for Kirsten, Sophie S, Leah and Georgia, who all competed for England Under 19 in the 2007 World Championships, all players are current members of the Centex national programme.
Alice Bruynseels, Charlie Finnigan, Georgie Hurt, Alice Kay, Lucy Lynch, Lizzy McCosh, Leah Templeman and Georgia Wade competed in the ‘England Glory’ squad in the Prague Cup in June 2008. They beat USA 1, Scotland White, Scotland Blue, Wales but narrowly lost 5-6 to ‘England Hope’
Hannah Barnsley, Alice Briggs, Emma Butcher, Rusty Cashman, Cat Gaunt, Emily Gray, Charlotte Houston, Laura Merrifield, Kate Newall, Hannah Nugent, Camilla Paget, Jenny Waterfield and Keely Watt competed for the ‘England Hope’ squad in the Prague Cup in June 2008. They won all their matches against Czech B, AIST, Wales B and England Glory but lost to the USA Elite Squad in the final.
