England Lacrosse is pleased to announce the England Women’s Senior Performance and Under 23 squads for the forthcoming 2019/20 season.
A total of 60 players have been selected across the two squads following a comprehensive player profiling weekend at Surrey Sports Park last month.
A 35-strong group will make up the Senior Performance squad with four players successfully moving up from the Under 19 team which competed at last month’s World Championship.
Anna Saunter, Georgie Southorn, Liv Thomas, and Charlie Wilson will join the Performance group which formed the basis of the team that successfully defended their title at the European Championship in July.
Over the next year, the group will meet for monthly training weekends in preparations for, first the Home Internationals Series in Wales, before a Summer Tour to Australia to play our big rivals down under.
Back in 2016, England won an historic Test Series against the Aussies for first time away from home before again downing the Green and Gold to take bronze at the 2017 World Cup 12 months later.
And Head Coach, Phil Collier, and staff will already have eyes on repeating the success with the 2021 World Cup at Towson University, Maryland, USA just a year later.
Meanwhile, the Under 23 squad will work together with Head Coach, Alex Carnegie-Brown, to continue their development with the team planning to tour Poland for the festival competition at the 2020 Men’s European Championship in July.
And the next chance to watch the Women’s Senior Performance squad is this Sunday as part of their training weekend sees them take on reigning BUCS champions and university powerhouses Durham in a fixture taking place at the University of Nottingham.
