England Lacrosse is pleased to announce that Regional Officer Sophie Bartup will be the new lead on Officiating Development within the organisation.

Sophie will work together with the extensive network of volunteers in the game to strive towards a more strategic approach to the development of officials at all levels within the sport.

It is a priority for England Lacrosse to be able to enhance the support, guidance and resources available to the game in terms of officiating, creating clear pathways for tutoring, assessing and mentoring to develop the officials network.

As England Lacrosse aims to provide greater sustainability and growth, Sophie will be the central contact for officials’ development to provide effective and efficient communication between the governing body and the game as a whole.

Sophie said: “I’m thrilled to be on board and to have the opportunity to be involved with officiating at an exciting time, as our events and competition calendar continues to grow.

"We have a number of exciting projects currently being developed and piloted which over the coming weeks and months should signal positive improvements for officiating development in England.

"I’ve already met a number of our officials who have such a great deal of dedication and commitment towards the sport and I’m looking forward to continue to work with them in the future”.
