University Lacrosse in the UK is ran by British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) and is now one of the most played sports at university with over 230 teams competing in BUCS Lacrosse during the 2019/20 season.

There are 15 women’s and 11 men’s leagues covering the whole country and running from late September until March each year.

With so many leagues, teams, and players, the standard of lacrosse continues to grow year on year and the finals at the annual BUCS Big Wednesday is one of the most hotly anticipated events in the lacrosse calendar.

BUCS, in partnership with England Lacrosse, also runs an annual 6s tournament which invites university teams from all over the UK to compete.

Information about the competition can be found over on the BUCS’ website and applications are currently being accepted to host the next two events.

England Lacrosse also runs a University Lacrosse Officer programme that sees support given to over 30 students working in universities to increase participation and enhance the lacrosse experience particularly for students to play the sport outside of the competitive league structures.

A great way to make the most of your university lacrosse experience is to take up a student membership with England Lacrosse.

For just £16.50 a year, you can get access to discounted equipment from our retail partners, discounts on coaching and officiating courses, and opportunities to play at your local club team if you want more than just university lacrosse.
