British Universities & Colleges Sports (BUCS), in partnership with England Lacrosse, has this week announced that applications are open to host the next two annual BUCS Lacrosse 6s Championships set to take place in 2022.

The competition, which was won this year by the University of Nottingham (women) and Loughborough University (men) respectively, has traditionally been made up of teams of eight players but was modified in 2021 to showcase the brand new sixes version of lacrosse instead.

In another change of tradition, there will be two BUCS Lacrosse 6s Championships in 2022, one in its regular Easter slot and one during pre-season towards the end of September.

The aim is for a September date to be the competition’s regular slot so that it can become a pre-season staple in the coming years and something that can grow and welcome as many lacrosse-playing universities as possible.

Since 2017, the Championships have been held at Coombe Dingle Sports Complex in Bristol and BUCS are now accepting applications to be the host for both dates in 2022 until 5pm on Friday 3 December.

The tournament is an important part of the lacrosse calendar and gives university teams an additional opportunity for competition against teams from outside of their league and region with entries from all across the UK.
