Sixes Lacrosse

Two female athletes playing lacrosse, one in a white jersey and the other in a yellow jersey, competing for possession of the ball on a grassy field with autumn-colored trees in the background.

Sixes Lacrosse is England Lacrosse’s recommended introductory version of the sport for new schools looking for a fast, fun and exciting team sport!

Sixes Lacrosse is a small-sided game with easy to understand rules, designed to support players of all ages and abilities to have a positive experience with sport.

Sixes is adaptable, easy to deliver and a very popular addition to the school curriculum for teachers and coaches looking to add something different. Whilst based on the same game principles as other team invasion sports, the unique nature of lacrosse provides a level playing field across ability levels and genders that can be tailored to meet the needs of Primary, Secondary and Further Education Sport.

Wollaston School introduced Sixes Lacrosse to 1500 co-ed pupils. It is a real leveller for all involved and the kids love it! We are now looking to put it on the PE curriculum and as an option for our Year 10 pupils taking PE GCSE.

England Lacrosse hosts the annual National Schools Lacrosse Championships, the highlight of the school sport season for thousands of young players, giving them the opportunity to display their skills on the biggest stage in a festival of lacrosse.

The tournament has age categories from U13s up to U19s with representation from all around the country.

National Schools Lacrosse Championships

We also host the National POP Lacrosse Championship each year featuring primary schools from across the country.

Pop lacrosse is a simple, non-contact version of the game which uses plastic-headed sticks and large, softer balls. The game is usually played as a five-a-side mixed game with no goal-keepers.
