BUCS LACROSSE

University Lacrosse in the UK is run by British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) and is now one of the most played sports at university with over 230 teams competing in BUCS Lacrosse during every season.

There are 15 women’s and 11 men’s leagues covering the whole country and running from late September until March each year.

With so many leagues, teams, and players, the standard of lacrosse continues to grow year on year and the finals at the annual BUCS Big Wednesday is one of the most hotly anticipated events in the lacrosse calendar.

BUCS, in partnership with England Lacrosse, also runs an annual Sixes tournament which invites university teams from all over the UK to compete.

Information about the competition can be found over on the BUCS website and the date for the next competition is Sunday 19th October at Platt Lane Sports Complex, Manchester.

University Aspire Programme

As part of the wider England Lacrosse Aspire Programme that aims to develop the next crop of young lacrosse talent, the University Aspire Proramme is designed to identify athletes who are not currently a part of any England Lacrosse programmes but have the potential to progress further.

The Programme is open to anyone and everyone who has shown exceptional athletic potential within the university setting but athletes don’t need to be expert lacrosse players to apply; they simply need the speed, agility, strength, and determination to excel in the sport.

Student Ambassador Programme

England Lacrosse also runs a Student Ambassador Programme that sees support given to over 30 students working in universities to increase participation and enhance the lacrosse experience particularly for students to play the sport outside of the competitive league structures.

A great way to make the most of your university lacrosse experience is to take up a student membership with England Lacrosse.

For just £22.50 a year, you can get access to discounted equipment from our retail partners, discounts on coaching and officiating courses, and opportunities to play at your local club team if you want more than just university lacrosse.
