England Lacrosse CEO, Mark Coups, has addressed the lacrosse community following the confirmation of a national lockdown beginning on Thursday 5 November:

“I am sure that you are all as disappointed as I am that our Phase 4 Return to Play including training and matches, which has given so many of us enjoyment and relief from the ongoing situation, has to be put on hold as we move back to Phase 2 RTP.

“We are very grateful to all the volunteers, COVID officers, players, coaches and officials that have played their part in delivering our sport safely over the last few months.

“Through the lacrosse community’s hard work and compliance with our and the Government’s guidance we have managed to keep the coronavirus transmission rates within the game extremely low and we recognise that this next short period will be challenging for us all.

“However, as a responsible sport, we must now do what is necessary to help reduce the prevalence of the virus within the country.

“We will do whatever it takes to support our lacrosse community and our wider communities to ensure we are able to come out of the next four weeks in a stronger, and healthier position.

“For now, I wish you and your families well; keep active, and most importantly, please stay safe and well”.
