A message from England Lacrosse following latest Government announcement

Following the Government announcement at the weekend, England Lacrosse will likely be required to make significant changes to the Return to Play guidelines later this week.

A four-week national lockdown for England was announced by the Prime Minister on Sunday 1 November. Parliament will vote on the new restrictions on Wednesday 4 November; they are expected to vote in favour of the national lockdown.

Unlike some sports, this national lockdown will see the suspension of lacrosse at all levels of the game, once again placing huge pressures onto our Lacrosse community.

Our community clubs have worked tirelessly over the last few months to safely and successfully bring back the return to lacrosse and we now need to ensure that our community clubs are still there for us when we are able to return to playing and you can play your part.

England Lacrosse, along with our fellow sporting bodies and UK Active are asking you to help ‘Save our Sports’ by signing our joint petition to get the Government to debate the need for an extended Sports Recovery Fund to provide emergency funding, ensuring sport clubs and leisure facilities can survive the coming months.

Sport and physical activity is vital in keeping our communities healthy and happy.  Our lacrosse clubs up and down the country are the lifeblood of these communities and we must ensure they are protected for the future so that everyone has the opportunity to play the sport we love.

The exact details for sport will only be fully known once the lockdown bill has been passed and we will continue to work with DCMS and Sport England following this to allow us to release the most accurate and up to date information as the lockdown measures come into force on Thursday 5 November.

It is expected that the lockdown period will finish on 2 December, and while we will be making preparations to bounce back as soon as possible, it is important to note that we do not know what restrictions may be in place at that point.
