Team England completed a Home Internationals clean sweep on the final day of action in Edinburgh to cap a memorable return to international action.
Wins for the women’s Senior A and B sides, as well as the Women’s Junior White and Junior C teams, gave them all victory in their respective divisions to add to the Men’s competition won by England Seniors on Saturday.
Sunday’s headline game between England and Scotland Senior A sides proved to be a Championship decider following England’s win against Czech Republic, and Scotland’s comeback win over Wales on Saturday.
With a large and loud crowd in attendance, England came roaring out of the blocks, making a fast start and taking the game away from the hosts in the first-half to lead 8-0.
Scotland did manage to stifle England slightly through the second-half, putting together a 3-3 third quarter, but England regrouped and produced a shut-out 4-0 final quarter to take a deserved win and the Championship.
In the Senior B competition, England and Germany were both undefeated coming into the deciding match on Sunday morning and the first half proved extremely competitive with England leading 7-5 at the interval.
However, a much-improved England went 8-1 for the half to win 15-6 and take the Women’s Senior B championship.
In the Junior A competition, England White comfortably beat Scotland 18-7 to finish in first, while England Red also produced a brilliant final day performance in beating Wales 13-7 to finish second.
And the England Junior C team helped to complete the clean sweep on Sunday afternoon with a resounding 19-3 victory over Scotland B to win the Junior B competition.
Overall, it proved a highly impressive tournament for the England national squads system with all of our seven sides remaining undefeated in games against the other home nations and was a wonderful weekend in which to finally see so many of our national squads back in action.
