Seven England sides head to Scotland this weekend for the 2022 Home Internationals competition finally returning for the first time since 2019.
Edinburgh University’s Peffermill Playing Fields is the venue for three days of elite international competition featuring the Home Nations, along with some guest countries, showcasing the game across all levels.
The Home Internationals features women’s senior and junior A & B competitions, while the men’s competition, added to the series in 2019, is back again in 2022.
England have both a senior and under 21 team in the men’s event, while Czech Republic will compete in the women’s senior A and Germany in the women’s senior B competition as guest nations.
As this is the first hosting of the Home Internationals series since 2019 in England, England are still defending champions in all of the women’s competitions following their clean sweep on home soil three years ago.
Wales came past a youthful England side in overtime to win the men’s competition, but with their absence at this year’s event due to their participation in the European Championship qualifiers taking place next week, there will be a new winner for 2022.
There will no doubt be plenty of interesting narratives created across the competition with World events on the horizon; particularly with our senior women as they make final squad evaluations ahead of selection for the Women’s World Championship beginning 29 June, and our U21 men up their preparations towards August’s World U21 Championship.
Below is a list of the competing teams in each competition, along with the England match schedule across the three days.
