England Women made history at the 2026 European Box Lacrosse Championships as they claimed a bronze medal at the inaugural tournament in. Prague, Czechia after an 11-7 victory over Ireland in the third-place game.

After Ireland emerged victorious in dramatic over-time fashion in the group stage earlier in the competition, redemption was on the cards for England and they started with determination, making it through the opening period one goal ahead at 3-2.

An even more impressive second quarter, that saw Laura Beaman further extend her lead at the top of England’s major tournament goal-scorers list, had England heading in at half-time 6-3 up and with Ireland on the ropes.

In a sport that is often won and lost in the third quarter, England continued their push for goals in the third period and got their just rewards with finishes from Beaman, Iandra Lamplugh, Ellie Racle, and Georgie Rutter and only one conceded seeing the Lionesses with a six-goal lead with just 15 minutes left to play.

In the Czech heat and with a commanding lead, England tired in the fourth quarter, conceding three through Gillian Smith (x2) and Charlie Hoy but were able to hit back with a final goal from Rosie Bathurst to see out the victory and claim the inaugural bronze medal.
