Japan Women to take part in Home Internationals Series
England Lacrosse is delighted to confirm the Japan women’s national team will travel to tour England later this year to take part in the 2026 Home International Series from Friday 10 to Sunday 12 April.
Japan will face England, Scotland, and Wales as a guest nation across the three days’ competition at Lilleshall National Sports Centre as key preparation in the lead up to this summer’s 2026 Nissin Foods World Lacrosse Women’s Championship in Tokyo.
Japan’s women’s team has been on the rise for the last decade, recording an equal best World Championship finishing position of 5th in 2022, beating Australia on their home turf in the final of the 2025 Women’s Asia-Pacific Championship, and winning a first ever World Championship medal at the 2025 Women’s U20 Championship, again beating Australia for bronze.
Japan’s women last toured England in 2017 in preparation for the Women’s World Championship in Guildford later that summer with England winning the feature game 12-6, the last time the two women’s sides have met in official field competition.
Since then, the two nations have shared a healthy relationship in touring; England men’s and women’s U23 squads visited Japan back in 2018 as part of the Friendship Games, and British Lacrosse’s women’s Sixes side retuned just last year, again to be a part of Japan Lacrosse’s annual Friendship Game celebrations.
The Home Internationals Series promises to deliver world class lacrosse with all four women’s sides inside the World Top 10 and heading to the revamped 16-team World Championship in Japan across July and August, alongside the four other competitions taking place - senior men, men’s development, women’s development, and U20 women.
The Home Internationals fixture schedule is set to be released in two weeks’ time along with more event and ticketing details.
