Mixed Lacrosse League 2026/27

The 2026/27 Mixed Lacrosse League structure has now been confirmed, with 17 teams taking part across a new Premier Division and three Regional Divisions.

This season sees the introduction of a Premier Division, providing a higher-level national competition for established teams, alongside the Regional Divisions which continue to prioritise sensible geography and manageable travel.

Premier Division

The Premier Division will feature five teams competing in a home-and-away league format against the strongest mixed sides in the country.

Regional Divisions

The remaining teams will compete across three geographically based Regional Divisions:

  • South West

  • Midlands

  • South East

Regional teams will play home-and-away fixtures within their division, with additional inter-regional friendly fixtures scheduled across the season to provide further playing opportunities.

Fixture Completion Deposit

The refundable fixture deposit is designed to support reliable fixture completion across the season.

For Regional Division teams, the deposit will be returned where a team completes at least 50% of its scheduled league fixtures.

For Premier Division teams, the deposit will be returned where a team completes at least 75% of its scheduled league fixtures.

A fixture will count as completed where the match is played. Where a fixture is conceded or otherwise remains unplayed because one team is unable or unwilling to fulfil it, the fixture will count as incomplete for the conceding team only and will not count against the completion rate of the non-conceding team.

Fixtures cancelled because of extreme weather, where accepted by England Lacrosse as unavoidable, will not count against either team.

Individual Membership

In order to compete in the Mixed Lacrosse Leagues all players, coaches and officials in each team must be registered members of England Lacrosse.

Umpiring

Home teams are required to provide two umpires per game. Umpires should be qualified with a minimum Entry Level/Level 1 umpiring qualification.

For any team without qualified umpires, our Entry Level Umpiring Course can now be completed entirely online and will give you all the grounding you need to safely officiate in the mixed leagues.

How are the 2026/27 leagues structured?

The 2026/27 Mixed Lacrosse League consists of:

  • 5 teams in the Premier Division

  • 4 teams in the South West Regional Division

  • 4 teams in the Midlands Regional Division

  • 4 teams in the South East Regional Division

Teams play home and away against every other team within their division.

What are the inter-regional friendlies?

Regional teams also have additional inter-regional friendly fixtures scheduled during the season.

These games are designed to provide extra playing opportunities against teams outside a club’s own Regional Division and do not count towards league standings.

Teams may choose not to play an inter-regional friendly where both sides agree.

How do teams qualify for the Championship?

The Championship will feature eight teams:

  • all five Premier Division teams; and

  • the winner of each of the three Regional Divisions.

This produces an eight-team Championship field for the national play-off stage.

Remaining teams will compete in a national Trophy Knockout competition.

Can league fixtures be rearranged?

Yes. Fixtures are scheduled for Sundays, but teams may agree to play at another time during the week leading up to the scheduled fixture date.

Where a fixture cannot be played as scheduled, teams should follow the rearrangement process set out in the Mixed Lacrosse League Rules & Regulations.

Yes, protective eyewear is mandatory for all field players whenever a solid, non-deformable lacrosse ball is used.

Where a deformable ball is used, protective eyewear is not mandatory. Full guidance is available on the England Lacrosse Protective Eyewear page.

Deformable balls may be used in Regional league fixtures if both teams agree.

The home team is responsible for providing two officials for each league fixture.

Officials should meet the qualification and membership requirements set out in the Mixed Lacrosse League Rules & Regulations. The current website still states a minimum Entry Level/Level 1 qualification, so I’d make sure that wording matches whatever you finally settle on in the rules document.
