England Women’s National Team Director, Phil Collier, has named a 43-strong training squad for 2018/19 leading up to next summer’s European Championships.

In addition to monthly training weekends, the squad have a packed international schedule which will see a selected squad first travel to America in January to compete at the Spring Premiere with internationals against World Champions, USA.

Following the Spring Premiere, the team will then compete in the Home Internationals, hosted in England, before building preparations up to the European Championships.

The 2019 European Championships will be hosted across Israel after they hosted the 2018 Men’s World Championships in July, with an England squad winning the Women’s Festival tournament as part of an early acclimatisation tour.

“I am extremely pleased to announce the new England national senior squad for 2018/19,” Collier said.

“We have selected a total of 43 players with a good balance of youth and experience in the squad.

Over half of Collier’s squad are aged 23 or under, while 15 are members of the 2017 Women’s World Cup bronze medal-winning team.

“The squad has been selected following two weekends of player profiling, involving a range of tests and challenges designed to help us assess the fitness and skill levels of the players competing for a place in the team.

He added: “We face an exciting year ahead with games against Team USA, hosting the Home Internationals, and ending with the European Championships in Israel in July.

“I’m really excited by the potential of this group. We have competition for places at every position and I look forward to seeing how much we can improve as individuals and as a team over the months ahead, as ultimately we build towards the 2021 World Cup”.
