Return to Play guidance update - 23 September

COVIDGUIDANCE.jpg

Following yesterday’s (22.09) announcement regarding changes to COVID restrictions, England Lacrosse would like to confirm what this means to our Phase 4 Return to Play guidance.

Indoor Sport

England Lacrosse were waiting for approval for indoor lacrosse to be permitted. This is not now expected to be granted until further the restrictions are relaxed.

This means there is no change to current Phase 4 guidance. However, for clarity we would like to remind you that the exclusion of indoor lacrosse extends to both team playing and training. This will mean all lacrosse activity will be undertaken outdoors until further notice.

EL understands that this will place facility use under stress. If you require assistance with facility related issues, please contact [email protected]

Spectators

Under EL Phase 4 guidance, spectators were permitted under government social distancing guidelines. This guidance remains the same. Please read the governmental advice with regard to spectators at recreational games, summarised as follows:

Supporters, parents, and other spectators to remain socially distanced whilst attending events. Spectator groups must be restricted to discrete 6 person gathering limits and spread out, in line with wider government guidance.

Where it is anticipated that an activity will attract spectators, there should be a named person or persons with responsibility for ensuring adherence with these guidelines and ensuring the facility is COVID-19 Secure. The person should carry out and publish a risk assessment for the activity which limits the number of spectators and focuses on the need to maintain social distancing on arrival, for the duration of the activity, and on departure.

Arrangements should also be put in place to support test and trace efforts by collecting information from spectators which is detailed enough to allow NHS Test and Trace to contact them if necessary. See the maintaining records guidance for further information.

Return to play status

EL is currently operating under phase 4 of our return to play guidance. This guidance has been approved by Government and as such lacrosse is recognised as a sport which, in a formally organised setting, can be played. It is vital the specific phase 4 guidance is followed by all lacrosse playing organisations to ensure lacrosse retains this privilege. Please remind yourself of the guidelines regularly.

Please be aware any local restrictions will take precedent over phase 4 guidance. To keep up to date with where these local restrictions apply and what the restrictions are visit: https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/local-restrictions-areas-with-an-outbreak-of-coronavirus-covid-19

If you are unsure as to what is permitted in your locality, please email [email protected]

Please stay alert to new guidance as it is released. Lacrosse is currently at phase 4 of return to play, if this status changes we will notify you immediately via the covid section of EL website, social media platforms and direct email.
