Australia claim Asia-Pacific Championship title
Australia claimed the 2026 Asia-Pacific Men’s Lacrosse Championship title after a dominant 13-3 win over the Philippines in Wellington, New Zealand on Sunday.
John Stubbs and Matthew Wood scored seven between them, alongside a brace from Lachlan Walker and single goals from Jordan Gillespie, Dylan Harari, Lucas Koczwara, and Jack Price to see the Sharks win their fourth title and first since 2007.
The victory sees Australia continue their impressive run of results in recent tournaments that has also seen them finish fourth at the 2023 World Lacrosse Men’s Championship and third at the 2025 World Lacrosse Men’s U20 Championship.
Jayden Basalatan, Nick Marsh, and Christian Tacogue scored the three goals for the Philippines who earned a medal at the Asia-Pacific Championship for the first time and qualify for the World Lacrosse Men’s Championship for just the third time after also appearing in 2018 and 2023.
Elsewhere in the Asia-Pacific Championship, Japan continued their impressive medal streak by claiming third spot after a 9-5 win over hosts New Zealand in the bronze medal game, Korea finished fifth after overcoming Hong Kong, China 13-7 before Hong Kong, China secured sixth place after defeating China.
