Camden men claim Compton Cup three-peat; Putney lift women’s trophy

Camden Capybaras and Putney lifted the respective men’s and women’s titles at the 2026 Compton Cup hosted by Spencer Lacrosse Club last weekend.

Camden, who entered five teams across the men’s and women’s competitions, lost just once on their road to the men’s trophy, 2026 Blues Fest champions Fighting Pandas defeating them in the group stage, but secured a huge W when it mattered with a narrow 7-5 win against London Raptors in the final.

The victory in 2026 sees Camden claim an historic three-peat in London’s second biggest lacrosse tournament, having previously lifted the trophy in 2025 and 2024.

After losing their first game, reigning women’s champions Putney picked themselves up to go unbeaten throughout the rest of the competition, eventually taking down Camden Green 5-3 in the final to secure a second successive Compton Cup.

The Compton Cup is one of a number of pre-season tournaments that aims to bring the lacrosse community together and provide competitive fixtures ahead of the formal domestic season starting.

This year’s event saw over 20 teams from 13 clubs compete, meaning almost 150 teams from around the UK have taken part in four pre-season tournaments over the past three weeks (Bath Eights, Border Eights, Stockport September Sixes, The Compton Cup) with countless more playing in other tournaments and friendlies to ensure they’re as ready as possible for the start of the season on Saturday 26 September.
