Dockery announces 2026 Euros Training Squad
England Women’s Box Lacrosse Team Head Coach Conor Dockery has announced his Training Squad, Coaching Team, and Development Programme Squad as he ramps up his team’s preparations ahead of the first ever Women’s European Box Lacrosse Championship in Prague, Czechia later this year.
21 of the 23 players who competed for England in 2024’s inaugural World Lacrosse Box Championships in Utica, USA have been selected as part of the main 2026 Training Squad, including Captain Annabelle Akintoye and Assistant Captains Laura Beaman and Lucy Ford.
27 other talented athletes make up the 48-strong Training Squad that represents the best box lacrosse players in the country.
Over the coming months and ahead of the 2026 Women’s European Box Lacrosse Championship (25 June - 4 July), this larger Training Squad will be whittled down to an eventual championship squad of 23.
Head Coach Dockery said:
“Announcing the European Training Squad is another exciting step in the journey of women’s box lacrosse in England. The standard, commitment, and depth across the player group made these decisions incredibly difficult, which speaks volumes about how far the game has come.
“This selected group can now set the tone as we begin building toward the first ever Women’s Box Lacrosse European Championship.
“Selection is only the beginning; the focus now is on learning, adaptability, and continual improvement.”
Alongside the 48-player Training Sqaud, Dockery has selected his Coaching Team that will see the team through to the end of the Euros.
Amelia Geddes continues in her role as Assistant Coach after successfully helping the team to a fifth place finish at the 2024 World Lacrosse Box Championships.
She is joined in the Assistant Coach role by the experienced Eliot Pugh who joins the team after retiring from international duty in 2024.
Pugh enjoyed a hugely successful England career that included four major championship appearances and a European Championship title in 2022.
Dockery’s coaches will be assisted by Team Manager Meredith Ingham Clark, Team Physio Edwin Knight, and Strength & Conditioning Coach Emily Chong.
19 athletes have also been announced as part of a brand new England Women’s Box Lacrosse Development Programme that aims to support and develop some of the most exciting up and coming players in England.
This squad of players isn’t lacking in experience, however, with four of the squad having already represented England at the 2024 ShE-Box event.
