First 10 teams qualify for World Sixes Championships

USA men's team celebrate after winning Pan-American Sixes Lacrosse Championships

The first 10 teams to qualify for next year’s 2027 World Lacrosse Sixes Championships in Colorado Springs, USA were confirmed on Sunday after the conclusion of the 2026 Pan-Amercian Sixes Lacrosse Championships in Oshawa, Canada.

USA, Canada, Haudenosaunee, and Puerto Rico qualified in both the men’s and women’s tournaments with the set completed by Brazil in the men’s format and Argentina in the women’s.

After six days of fierce competition, it was USA and Canada who finished first and second respectively across both codes.

Haudenosaunee and Puerto Rico finished third and fourth in the men’s competition and switched places in the women’s.

Finishing within the top five in their continental qualifier means the 10 teams have qualified for the World Sixes Championships taking place from 4-10 October 2027, the final stage in qualification for the LA28 Olympic Games.

Three more continental qualifiers will follow with the Asia-Pacific Championships in Australia this week, the European Championships in Spain in November, and the African Championships in South Africa in December.

Five men’s and five women’s teams will qualify for the World Sixes Championships from the Asia-Pacific and European qualifiers with one men’s and one women’s team progressing from the African Championships.
