First weeks, next steps: Manchester welcomes 40 newcomers

Following a hugely successful Freshers’ Week, the University of Manchester Women’s Lacrosse Club has reported around three times last year’s trial attendance, with approximately 40 students attending newcomer sessions to give the sport a go.

The club’s freshers activities provided an opportunity to introduce students to lacrosse, meet prospective players, and share a glimpse of university club life.

Student Ambassador Rivonia has contributed highlights from the stall, helping England Lacrosse share the club’s experience as part of its First Weeks, Next Steps series.

The series follows university clubs through the opening weeks of the academic year, exploring how students discover lacrosse, try it for the first time, and find their place within a club.

The reported increase in trial attendance is an encouraging start for Manchester and the next chapter is how the club helps students build on that first experience.

We look forward to hearing more from Manchester later in the term as new players settle into university lacrosse.
