Former England star to lead Hong Kong into Olympic qualification
Former England and Great Britain star Emily Gray will lead Hong Kong, China as their Head Coach at the 2026 Asia-Pacific Sixes Lacrosse Championships with the competition starting today.
The first stage of the qualification process for the LA28 Olympic Games, the 2026 Asia-Pacific Championships will see five men’s and five women’s teams progress to next year’s 2027 World Lacrosse Sixes Championships in Colorado Springs, USA.
Having made her senior international debut against Japan in 2008, Gray earned herself 84 England caps before hanging up her boots in 2024.
She competed for England in no less than seven major tournaments, picking up four European Championship titles, and helped Great Britain to two fourth-place finishes at The World Games between 2017 and 2025.
Since taking on the Head Coach role last year, Gray relocated to Hong Kong to work closely with the players in the build up to this historic competition.
In their opening Asia-Pacific Championships game earlier today, Hong Kong, China lost 17-2 to a Korea side led by former England Women’s Box Team Assistant Coach Jane Lee-Whitehead.
Over the next two days, they will play Chinese Taipei, Japan, and India before the knockout stage and placement games take place.
