Home Internationals update: U20 Women’s competition

The event organisers would like to clarify the final standings of the recent Women's U20s Home Internationals competition and celebrate the subsequent award of the competition to Wales U20s as winners.

Following a query raised after the event, we have reviewed the application of the World Lacrosse tiebreak rules used to separate the three teams tied on two wins at the end of the competition.

At the time, goal difference across all matches played was used to determine the final standings, and England White were awarded first place on that basis.

After review of the tiebreak rules, regulations specify that where teams are tied on points, goal difference should be calculated based only on the matches played between the tied teams.

On reapplying the tiebreak rules using only the relevant fixtures between England Red, England White and Wales, the standings change and Wales should be ranked first.

We recognise that this means the competition outcome was not determined in line with the rules on the day. We regret this error and the unfortunate outcome for all the teams involved.

It is important that the final standings accurately reflect the correct application of the regulations and as such we will be amending the official published results and recognising Wales as the 2026 Women’s U20 Home Internationals winners.

We would like to thank all the teams involved for their guidance and understanding in resolving this situation following an excellent and positive weekend of lacrosse on the field.

We would like to offer many congratulations to Wales U20s on their performance across the event and their deserved success following the event.
