Israel topple England on day 3 at Box Euros
England Women fell to a 15-5 defeat to the early Group Stage front-runners Israel on a baking hot afternoon on day three at the 2026 European Box Lacrosse Championships earlier today.
Torz Anderson scored her eighth goal of an impressive Euros campaign so far with Leah Catton, Lauren Lewis, Laura Wright, and Ellie Racle all getting their names on the scoresheet too but it wasn’t enough to prevent England’s first defeat of the tournament.
Another slow start from the Lionesses was punished by a clinical Israel side full to the brim with NCAA talent, and after the first 15-minute period, England were 4-0 down.
England have been here before, having fought back from four goals down to beat Germany 6-5 in yesterday’s match, and a comeback seemed to be in the air again when Catton and then Wright scored less than three minutes into the second quarter.
England seemed to have stemmed the flow of Israel goals and Lewis grabbed her goal shortly after a fifth Israel strike to put the scores at 5-3 after 20 minutes in the match.
Israel regrouped, however, and scored five without reply at the end of the second and beginning of the third quarters to seemingly put the game beyond an England side that was tiring in the heat and after their second day heroics.
There are positives to be taken from the back end of the game, not least goals from Racle and Anderson proving that this England side will never give up, and they’ll be back in Radotín tomorrow evening for a big double header with the England men’s team as they both take on Ireland.
