Queen Anne’s look to follow up National Schools title with School Challenge Cup trophy
Queen Anne’s will look to follow up their first ever National Schools Lacrosse Championships U19A title with a second national trophy in the space of eight months as they host the 2025 School Challenge Cup on Sunday.
The annual competition brings together the top eight teams from that year’s National Schools Championships U19A competition in a battle to be named the best of the best.
Last year’s champions Godolphin will be hoping they can put up a fight to become just the second team to retain the School Challenge Cup after finishing fifth in March’s 2025 National Schools Championships.
Guildford High, the most successful side in School Challenge Cup history with three titles, return to the competition after a disappointing run in 2024 that saw them finish fourth after being knocked out by St Swithun’s in the semis.
St Catherine’s, the only other team to win the School Challenge Cup since its inception in 2019, will be desperate to put heartbreak behind them after falling to defeat in the 2025 National Schools Championships final.
Westonbirt, Moreton Hall, Downe House, and Withington Girls’ make up the eight teams taking part in this year’s competition after finishing in fourth, sixth, seventh, and eighth place in Aldershot in March.
The action begins at 10:30am at Queen Anne’s School as the hosts take on Guildford High and St Catherine’s play Westonbirt in the first of the first round games; at 11:15am Godolphin play Downe House and Moreton Hall play Withington Girls’.
Play will then move into the quarter-final phase before semi-finals, a final, and three placement games to determine the final placings of all the teams.
