Simon Peach | Funeral details
Simon Peach’s funeral will be held this Friday 31 July at St John’s Church, Croydon CR0 5EE following his death on 26 June after a short battle with cancer.
The service will begin at 2pm with guests asked to arrive from 1:30pm and all are welcome afterwards at D’oyly Carte Island, Weybridge KT13 8LU for refreshments.
Simon’s family has asked guests to dress to show how they knew Simon, for example, a lacrosse tie or red and blue for Crystal Palace FC.
All donations in lieu of flowers will be accepted by The Lacrosse Foundation* who will use the money in memory of Simon to support projects that bring lacrosse to more young people in England; their funds are focused on growing the grassroots of the game to which Simon gave so much.
Simon, a goalkeeper during his playing career, started at Croydon Lacrosse Club before leaving in the 1980s to form Three Bridges Lacrosse Club.
Later on, he transitioned into a career in officiating, refereeing at several World and European Championships, Flags Finals, Bath Eights, Bluesfest, and over 30 Oxford v Cambridge Varsity Matches.
Simon, an accountant by profession, was always focused on giving back to the game he loved and coached many referees over the years, became SEMLA’s Referees’ Secretary, sponsored the south’s kit, and organised the London Tournament.
All this work saw him highly regarded by players on and off the field and he will be sorely missed. England Lacrosse’s thoughts remain with Simon’s family and friends at this difficult time.
