Stockport prepares to celebrate 150th birthday

Stockport Lacrosse Club, the oldest continuously running club in the world founded in 1876, will celebrate its 150th birthday in June next year with a special celebration dinner at the club.
Taking place on Saturday 27 June 2026 to honour the moment when Stockport’s founding members first saw lacrosse being played and made the decision to form what would become the first club of its kind, the event promises to be a festival of all things Stockport Lacrosse Club with a three-course meal, live entertainment, and commemorations throughout the evening.
They’re currently selling sponsorship packages for the dinner, including a table of 10, three-course meal, six bottles of wine, choice of table location, branding on all Stockport social media in 2026, inclusion on a commemorative plaque in the clubhouse, and a commemorative brochure for £1500.
From Monday 1 December, the club will also be selling premium and standard packages, starting from £600.
As part of the 150th birthday celebrations, Stockport has already commissioned a brand new birthday logo, courtesy of Blackburn-based creative design business, Devote Associates Ltd.
