A Wilmslow Lacrosse Club player is set to run in the Manchester Half-Marathon on Sunday to help raise funds for his Club.

Rick Caldwell, who has been involved with Wilmslow Lacrosse Club for 16 years since he first joined their under-12 team in 2006, is looking to crowd-fund £500 to help improve the Club’s junior section.

Rick is also hoping the money will be able to assist the Club in introducing more youngsters to the sport within the local community by helping to fund training sessions, match fees, and equipment.

Since 2016, the Manchester Half-Marathon has taken place every October, starting and finishing by Old Trafford football stadium, the home of Manchester United.

Over 15,000 runners have taken part in the Half-Marathon that “aims to truly represent all the wonderful people of Manchester, and celebrate [their] achievements”.

Rick is likely to start the Half-Marathon at some time between 08.55am and 09.54am as he looks to complete the 13.1 mile run that winds its way through Manchester City centre for the first time, passing famous Manchester landmarks such as the Midland Hotel, Manchester Central Library, and Manchester Opera House.

“I have so many good memories at Wilmslow”, Rick told England Lacrosse, “and I would like to help see more junior players come into the Club and develop themselves to play at a senior level”.

He went on to say: “Playing lacrosse and playing for Wilmslow has been a huge part of my life and I would like to help support the Club keep its tradition in introducing players to the sport, especially at a young age”.
