The BUCS Lacrosse Sixes Championships return this Sunday (25 October) for the annual early season Sixes competition featuring some of the best university players from across the country coming together to play the fast and furious Olympic format.
The Championships feature a record 56 teams across the men’s and women’s competitions all heading to Manchester Met University’s Platt Lane Sports Complex to compete for valuable BUCS points and the accolade of BUCS Lacrosse Sixes champions.
The Sixes format aligns the competition with the Olympic version of the sport heading to LA in 2028, as well as England Lacrosse’s leading domestic Sixes event, The Fly Sixes, which has featured multiple BUCS stars past and present.
Teams from as far reaching as Aberystwyth, Exeter and Glasgow have been ranked and grouped into divisions across Championship and Trophy competitions for Sunday’s event to ensure competitive action throughout the day before heading in to the crucial knockout stages.
Looking back to last year’s Women’s Championship, Exeter were finally able to turn the tables on their University of Nottingham (UoN) rivals last season, claiming victory in the Sixes Championship final to avenge their defeat in the 2024 final and then acting as a springboard for the South-West side as they went on to do the double at BUCS Big Wednesday finals in March.
Meanwhile in the Men’s Championship, Nottingham Trent are going in search of a hat-trick of Sixes victories and a trio of wins against their city rivals, after retaining their title last year with an overtime success against UoN.
All four of last year’s Championship finalists come in to the competition with 100% records in their opening two BUCS league fixtures and are set to feature heavily at the business end of things on Sunday.
Despite disappointment in both 2025 Championship finals, UoN’s strength in depth at the competition has been clear, with their 2s sides having picked up both the Men’s and Women’s Trophy titles in both the past 2024 and 2025 editions and are sure to be strong competitors for success again this weekend.
The full competition schedule is available below, and live results will be available back here on competition day. Also follow England Lacrosse across social media for updates, videos and additional content from the Championships.
