Border Eights to take place this weekend

The sixth annual Border Eights competition will return to Border City Lacrosse Club this Saturday 12 September with 10 teams from England and Scotland set to battle for the 2026 trophy.

Holders Edinburgh City will return to Brampton, Cumbria looking to claim an unprecedented fourth title with Aberdeen, Ashton/Wacs, Border City, Brooklands, Leeds, Newcastle Knights, Newcastle University, Tallam Rangers, and Wilmslow looking to stand in their way.

Since 2021, the Border Eights event has, like the Bath Eights before it, become a staple of the pre-season lacrosse calendar, offering teams in the north of England and Scotland a chance to come together, play some lacrosse, meet like-minded people, and make life-long memories.

Edinburgh dominated the early competitions, winning back-to-back titles in 2021 and 2022, before Newcastle University and Rochdale claimed the respective 2023 and 2024 trophies; Edinburgh returned to top spot last year to make it three wins in six.

Matches will start at 11am on Saturday with the bar open all day, food available, and spectators welcome completely free of charge.

Border City are even offering individually registered players the opportunity to go along without a team, promising to find them somewhere to play with free camping available on site.

Border City Lacrosse Club is located at Cotehill Park Sports Ground in Brampton, Cumbria (CA8 1BH) just a 20-minute drive from Carlisle train station and a 15-minute journey from Hadrian’s Wall.
