Cheadle win 40th men’s Bath Eights title; Pink Gin & Juice lift women’s trophy
Cheadle claimed a record-extending seventh Bath Eights men’s title after a 2-1 final win over north west rivals Wilmslow in the 40th edition of the competition at Bath’s Odd Down Sports Ground on Saturday.
Touring team Pink Gin & Juice, featuring England international athletes Davina Emetulu, Helena Prettyman, Lucy Ford, Lucy Mayers, and Rosie Jones, picked up a first ever Bath Eights women’s title following a 3-1 victory against St Mary’s Calne.
Having secured their first title in 1992, Cheadle hadn’t picked up the top Bath Eights men’s gong since 2022 but after an excellent display throughout the competition their name is forever etched in history as the 40th winners of the annual pre-season event.
A team packed full of talent including the likes of Ellis, Leo, and Joe Baythorpe was always going to be hard to overcome and so it proved as they went unbeaten throughout the tournament before narrowly overcoming Wilmslow in the final.
In the ninth edition of the women’s competition, Pink Gin & Juice, who were only founded earlier this year, lifted a trophy in just the second tournament they’ve ever competed in after a win against St Mary’s Calne in their final.
Overall, over 50 teams and more than 500 players took part in the 2026 Bath Eights competition ahead of the 2026/27 domestic season beginning at the end of September.
After his death earlier this year, teams held a minute’s applause for the life of the dedicated member of the lacrosse community Simon Peach who played in goal for Bath at the first Bath Eights competition in 1986.
