England stars help Miners win 2026 Presidents Cup

England stars Cam MacLeod and Jack Royer helped Edmonton Miners to victory on home soil in the 2026 Presidents Cup after a 12-4 final win over Snake Island Muskies in Alberta, Canada on Sunday.

The Miners were unbeaten in their four games during this year’s competition, scoring 60 goals and conceding just 19 on their way to lifting their first title.

Wins aginst Newtown Golden Eagles at the round robin and semi-final stages as well as dominant displays against Fighting Sioux and Snake Island Muskies in the respective quarter-final and final match-ups saw the Miners lift the trophy.

Goalie MacLeod, who has 19 caps and featured at three major tournaments for England, played in three of the four Presidents Cup games for the Miners, facing 147 shots, making 130 saves, and securing an incredible 88% save ratio.

Royer, an attacker who was England’s top points scorer with 10 goals and four assists at the 2024 World Lacrosse Box Championship, also played in three of the Miners four games notching up one assist in each match.

Edmonton Miners best previous finish at the Presidents Cup came in 1990, 1991, 1993, 2023, and 2024 when they came second after agonising defeats in those years’ finals.

Teams from Edmonton have won the Presidents Cup previously, however, with Edmonton Fullers winning in 1975 and Edmonton Outlaws in 2002.

The Presidents Cup is a seven-day competition bringing together regional champions from all over Canada and is the highest level of Senior B lacrosse in the country.
