England Lacrosse partners with Sporting Wellness
England Lacrosse is delighted to announce a brand new partnership with mental health charity Sporting Wellness.
Sporting Wellness is the biggest provider of private mental healthcare for representative athletes in the UK, and England Lacrosse teams up with them as we continue to improve our England players’ journeys through their lacrosse careers.
As part of the new partnership, England players will have access to, among other things, counselling sessions, a 24/7 support line, an online cognitive behavioural therapy programme, a live chat facility, life coaching sessions, and exclusive self-help resources, all completely free of charge.
Launched in 2020, Sporting Wellness helps almost 3,000 athletes in 117 sports, including Premier League footballers and Olympic medalists, and now has over 50,000 social media followers.
With one in three athletes suffering from a mental health or emotional issue due to the unique stressors associated with sport, our partnership with Sporting Wellness comes at an important time in sport and over the past year Sporting Wellness athletes have felt anxiety symptoms reduce by 82.6% and depression symptoms by 91.3%*.
Sporting Wellness offers a direct referral pathway which requires no coach or England Lacrosse staff member involvement, empowering athletes to access the resources that best suit them.
Sporting Wellness’ Founder Callum Lea said:
“We are delighted to be partnering with England Lacrosse. The motivation for starting Sporting Wellness back in 2020 was to level the playing field for athlete well-being and bring equality of access to support to as many sports as possible. For us to do that, we need NGB’s who share our values and so we’re delighted by England Lacrosse’s proactive approach to mental health in sport and look forward to building a strong partnership”.
We’re delighted to be partnering with such an important charity and we look forward to working with them further over the coming months and years.
