Spencer reclaim top honours on 2026 SEMLA Flags Finals Day

Spencer lifted their 11th Senior Flags title after a narrow 8-7 victory over Hillcroft at Surrey Sports Park on Sunday at the SEMLA Flags Finals.

Hillcroft were looking to lift their first Senior trophy at the sixth attempt but Spencer, who’ve reached 13 finals in 17 years since 2009, proved to be too strong as they secured a fourth title in five years.

A tight first quarter ended all square with the score at 2-2 but the 2026 SEMLA Premier league champions Spencer showed their quality in the second pulling three goals ahead to go in at the break 6-3 up.

Hillcroft proved they were no pushovers, however, in a big third quarter shut-out that saw them pull to within a goal of Spencer at 6-5.

An equally tight final 15 minutes was ultimately decided with six seconds left in the game as Spencer scored an eighth to pull a goal ahead and win the 2026 SEMLA Senior Flags title.

Elsewhere on SEMLA Flags Finals Day, Bristol Bombers claimed their third Intermediate title as they defeated Hitchin 9-6.

Bristol were pipped at the post last year when they fell to a 16-11 defeat against Walcoutians but they were back and better than ever in the 2026 final.

Despite a slow start, the Bombers clawed themselves back from 2-1 down in the first quarter to 7-4 ahead going into the fourth before claiming the title after a 9-6 win.

And finally, Leicester City picked up their first SEMLA Flags title after an impressive 23-5 victory over competition newbies Richmond.
